To: My fellow Post 3137 Comrades,

As of this date, I have been contacted by or spoken to VFW National, State, and District officials and have confirmed the following information:

As announced at the recent VFW National Convention, "effective December 31, 2016, all Men's Auxiliary Charters shall be canceled, and such subordinate units shall be disbanded".

What does this decision mean to us at Post 3137? I have already spoken with the President of our Men's Auxiliary and the President of our Auxiliary, and have informed them of this decision and I am confident that we will experience a smooth transition as we install this change at our Post.

First of all, I am recommending and encouraging all of our current Men's Auxiliary comrades, that meet the requirements that I have listed below, to submit their application for membership and transition to The Auxiliary. You can pick up a membership application at our Post, download the application from our website, or visit The VFW Auxiliary website for additional information. If you should require any assistance in filling out the "paperwork", I, or a designated post comrade will make ourselves available to assist you in submitting your application.

AUXILIARY MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be a US citizen or a US National and at least 16 years old. Those eligible are:

  • Husband/Wife
  • Widower/Widow
  • Father/Mother
  • Brother/Sister
  • Grandfather/Grandmother
  • Son/Daughter
  • Grandson/Granddaughter

Secondly, for any current Men's Auxiliary comrades that do not meet the requirements for membership in The Auxiliary, we will continue to welcome you at Post 3137 as a guest, but you must be signed in by a Regular or Auxiliary member when you visit the Post. This way, you will be able to join us at the Post as you have done for many years.

If you have any questions concerning this change, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of your Post Officers as we navigate through this change together.
