POW-MIA Table Display

Fellow Comrades and Auxiliary Members,

Upon entering our Post, please take a moment to pause and reflect when you pass our newly renovated POW-MIA Table Display.  If you are a member that has moved out of this area, or are unable to visit the Post at this time, it is our pleasure to share this recent photograph with you. This display is here to honor our fellow POW-MIA Comrades that are not able to join their family and friends for a meal.  Until they, or their remains come home, we will continue to honor their absence with this table set for one and pray for their return.

In Comradeship,

Buddy Gillam
Post Commander

POW / MIA Awareness - Accounting with Honor

The table, set for one, is small— symbolizing the frailty of one prisoner alone against his oppressors.

The table cloth is white, symbolizing the purity of their intentions to respond to their country's call to arms.

The single rose displayed in the vase reminds us of the families and friends of our missing brothers who keep faith while awaiting their return.

A slice of lemon on the plate reminds us of their bitter fate.

The salt sprinkled on the plate reminds us of the countless fallen tears of families as they wait.

The Bible or other book of faith represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God

The glass is inverted—they cannot toast with us.

The chair is empty—they are not here.

The candle is reminiscent of the light of hope which lives in our hearts to light the way home, away from their captors to the open arms of a grateful nation.
