Celebration of Life for William "B-52 Bill" F. Milcarek

The family of B-52 Bill will be holding a memorial service at 1:00p for family and close friends. A gathering for a Celebration of Life at the post will commence at 2:00pm. Post members who knew Bill are welcome to come out, meet family members, share stories and raise a glass in Bill's honor.
Obituary William F. Milcarek
William F. Milcarek, 73 passed away peacefully at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC with his youngest daughter at his bedside.
A graduate of Tulane University, William (or "B-52 Bill" as his fellow Vets would call him) served in the Vietnam War as a B-52 Strategic Aircraft Commander and was awarded the Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery and leadership which saved the lives of his entire crew when his plane was shot down during a bombing strike over Hanoi in 1973.
A true patriot, Aviation was an integral part of his life from his career to his personal pursuits. He was an active member of the local chapter of River Rats and VFW Post 3137 in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. Bill served on the Board of Directors of Friends of Vietnam Veterans Plaza, NYC, and with great camaraderie loved to bring fellow servicemen together culminating in quarterly Combat Veterans Luncheons hosted throughout New York City for the past 30 years.
Bill is survived by his two brothers Tim (Irene) and Peter (Anne) and four children Bonnie, William Jr. (Chantal), Kerri, and Marri (Chad), and four loving grandchildren.
